Bosswerk has launched three portable solar generators, or Powerstations, with 500 W, 1,000 W and 2,000 W options. The gadgets use a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery, and a built-in MPPT solar controller enables you to charge the power bank via solar panels. Bosswerk claims its technology can generate up to 30% more solar power than a standard controller.
Alternatively, you can recharge the power stations via a 230 V power grid or a 12 V car outlet. The devices support pass-through charging, allowing you to continue to boost connected gadgets while the station is connected to a power source. The largest gadget, Bosswerk’s flagship model, has a peak power of 4,000 W using a 114 Ah battery with around 1.46 kWh capacity. The power station weighs 20 kg (~44 lbs) and measures 320 x 230 x 330 mm (~12.6 x 9.1 x 13.0-in). The devices have AC outlets, three USB-A ports, two 12 V DC output and a 12 V car outlet. Plus, a USB-C port has PD fast-charging up to 60 W.
The most compact device weighs just 6.5 kg (~14 lbs) in comparison, with 0.46 kWh capacity, though the USB-C power output is limited to 15 W here. The Bosswerk Powerstations will be available in European countries, including Germany and the Netherlands, from mid-July. Retail prices for the solar generators will range from €624.75 (~US$650.85) to €2,150 (~US$2240).
